Frequently Asked Questions
Hours for drop off
Drop off is at my house.
I would request you contact me before coming by to ensure that someone is available. In addition to sharpening tools I also go onsite to my clients for various repairs or renovations.
I can also pick them up and/or return them, an additional surcharge may apply.
How long does it take to get my items sharpened?
I typically try and do any sharpening before I head out for the day. If I get them on Monday they are typically ready for pickup on Tuesday.
If you are coming from “out of town” we can arrange to have them done quickly, an additional surcharge may apply.
How do I know when they are ready?
I will contact you when they are ready to be picked up or to schedule a time to drop them off.
Can you sharpen serrated knives?
Unfortunately, I cannot. Serrated knives, or any serrated blade, typically requires special equipment, which I do not possess.
Lawn Mowers
I need to have the blades removed from under the mowing deck to sharpen them. I can assist with this, if you wish and can come to your place to do that, or you can bring the mower to me.
Chainsaws
I sharpen chainsaws by hand, a skill I learned when I was a lumberjack. I grew up in a logging community where I developed this and many other skills.
It is best for me if the chain is on the saw, so please don’t take it off if you can.
Circular Saw Blades
Chop saws, skill saws, table saws, they are much the same, the typical difference is the size of the blade.
I can manage from 9 cm up to 68 cm (4 inches 27 inches) in size.
Most blades come with alternating teeth, one leans left, the next right. Some of the more “advanced” blades come with additional leans or angles, this is determined by an up close visual inspection. I set the machine for each angle required, to achieve amazing results and a Super Sharp blade.
What other services do you offer?
In addition to my sharpening services, I also do renovations, repairs, assemble “IKEA” type furniture and many other “handyman” tasks.
